Hello. My name is Robert Canlobo. My friends call me Bobby.
I live in Los Angeles, California. I was born in the Philippines and came here to the US when I was in 3rd grade. I grew up in a small city in the Los Angeles area called Glendale.
I am a self taught freelance photographer. In the past, I was thinking of going to photography school, but I wanted a challenge and ventured to learn the art of photography on my own. I learned by constantly taking pictures, reading books, blogs, websites, and other publications.
By learning on my own, I acquired a sense of pride and accomplishment. I also created my own style which is in tune with documentary and street photography. When I am on the job, I usually do not tell my human subjects to pose, not unless they ask for a picture. It looks more genuine when the photo comes out naturally and filled with emotion.
In my spare time, I love being a couch potato; watch movies while surfing on the web; and walking my dogs. I hunt for great eatery spots such as those that serve Japanese dishes and Korean barbecue. Then I write reviews about them in
YELP. I take my camera almost everywhere I go because I do not want to miss those moments that can only be captured through a particular moment in time.
I have been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to take photos of portraits, weddings, parties, and other special events. When I am not working, I love to travel and look for landscapes, architectures, and street photography.
Photography is not just a hobby. I seek the satisfaction in seeing the joy in people through capturing irreplaceable precious memories.
This website shows my love for photography.
